Prince William County Police responded to Somerset Pointe Apartments in the 14700 block of Soapstone Drive in Gainesville on Tuesday, March 11, around 7:39 p.m. for a reported domestic dispute.

Officers learned that a verbal altercation had occurred before the individuals involved left the apartment, abandoning three children under the age of 10 without supervision, police said.

When officers arrived, they found the apartment in hazardous conditions.

A woman, identified as Lindsay Jo Halsey, 32, later returned and was taken into custody.

Police said she resisted arrest, kicking multiple officers, biting another, and even attempting to grab an officer’s holstered weapon.

The children were unharmed and placed in the care of known parties. No officers reported injuries.

Halsey was charged with:

  • Three counts of felony child neglect;
  • Eight counts of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer;
  • Attempting to disarm an officer
  • Obstruction of justice.

She is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 30.
